Featured in Our Webinar: In-Mold Gate Cut System
Our patent-pending in-mold gate cut system combines an injection molding machine with a collaborative robot. The robot holds a gate-cutting jig inside the mold, and the gate is cut by the mold-closing motion. Parts are already degated when they are removed, ready for the next process.
- Zero post-processing: Eliminates manual gate cutting after molding.
- Minimal gate vestige: Approx. 0.02 mm, compared with approx. 0.2 mm for conventional manual cutting (based on our in-house trials).
- Clean cutting: Virtually no cutting particles were observed in a trial of approx. 3,000 shots with COP, making it well suited to cleanroom production.
- Safer operation: Cutting takes place inside the molding machine's safety guard, so operators never handle blades.
The system is designed for micro medical components, connectors and optical parts. Development for multi-cavity molds and a wider range of resins is underway.

Hello, I’m Soichiro Oba, President & CEO of Sayama Mold Manufacturing, a precision micro-mold maker founded in 1964 in Iruma, Saitama, Japan.
I was born in Iruma in 1986. I studied in the United States and earned a degree in management and economics from the University of Massachusetts Boston, which gave me a global perspective I still rely on every day. I joined Sayama Mold in 2011, learning the craft of micron-level mold making and injection molding on the shop floor, and became President & CEO in January 2023.
My mission is to bring Japanese micro-molding craftsmanship to manufacturers around the world, and to keep creating solutions that make production simpler, cleaner and more reliable.
